Roots growing from the bulb...
【球根から根が生えて】
ヒヤシンス、スイセン、チューリップにムスカリ…
春の初め、球根の水耕栽培をするのが楽しみだ。
特に固く閉じた球根から根が生えて、「静」から「動」へと急激な変化を見せるその瞬間にいつもハッとさせられる。
私は球根が好きだ。
可能性を秘めたその佇まいが好きだ。
私は根が好きだ。
しっかりと根を張り、養分を得ようと伸びる生命力が好きだ。
日毎に伸びていく根はユーモラスであり、その勢いは恐怖ですらある。
春。球根から根が生えて、私の妄想も動き出す。

Hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, and muscari…
When spring comes, I enjoy growing bulbs hydroponically.
I am always amazed by the moment roots emerge from a tightly closed bulb.
It is a sudden shift from "stillness" to "motion."
I like bulbs.
I like the way they look, holding so much potential inside.
I like roots.
I like their strength as they grow deep to find life.
Watching them stretch day by day is funny, yet their power is almost scary.
In spring, as the roots begin to grow, my imagination begins to move, too.
2025年
Water ?
制作のきっかけは「いつか水をテーマに作品を」という提案でした。
以来、どうやって水を表現しようかと考えてきましたが、
浮かんでくるアイディアを１つに絞る事が出来ずに数年が経ちました。
ある時、ふと、「定まらない」というのが水の特徴の一つなのではないか、
と思うに至りました。
液体、気体、固体と形を変化させる水。
命を育み、また奪いもする水。
「水」から得た様々なイメージを創造し展示致します。
Water ? ― 未だ疑問符が残ったままなのです…
Ever since I was asked to create a piece about "water",
I have been thinking.
several years have passed, but I still couldn't find just one answer.
Then, I realized something : perhaps water is meant to be "unsettled."
It never stays the same.
So, I stopped trying to define it.
"Water ?" - The question mark is still there in my mind...

望む、運ぶ
Hope and Bring
ネイティブアメリカンのズニ族のお守りで、
動物の形をした人形に水晶などをくくりつけたものがある。
動物（精霊？）が望みを運んできてくれる。という発想なのだろう。
昔、門出に「いいことがたくさんありますように」と、手作りのお守りをいただいた時に存在を知り、興味を持った。
人の望み・願いを形にすることに創造の根源的なものを感じる。
人は何かを望み、叶えたいと願う
人は、誰かの幸せを願ったりもする
思いを託して、形にする
There is a lucky charm shaped like an animal and that has a power stone like crystal.
It’s a Zuni’s amulet (lucky charm)
*Zuni is one of Native American
I image that animals bring our hope.
I got them from my friend in the past, sparking my interest.
To form our hope is interesting for me.
It’s the essence of creation, I think.
We want to make our dreams come true.
Sometimes, we wish for someone’s happiness.
And we create something to show our hope.

Landscape, Wonderland
あらゆる活動を制限される日々の中で
身の回りのものごとと向き合う時間ができ（否応なしに）
改めて、私たちの暮らしは驚きに満ちていると感じた。
いつもの風景、ありふれた日々のものごとは
美しく、不思議で、興味深い。
In this situation (covid-19 pandemic)
We had to be stay-at- home.
I had time to look and think about around my life carefully.
(Whether I wanted to be or not.)
I realized again that everyday is full of wonder.
Common scenery,
Landscape,
Everything in ordinary days…
They are so precious to me.
I’d like to express them.

夢ばっかみてる
私は夢ばっかみてる
「～だったらなあ…」「～だったらいいのに」
といった妄想のような小さな夢だ
夢ばっかみてる。と言うと「浮ついた奴だ」と思う人もいるだろう
しかし、夢（妄想）を実現しようとするとき、実に様々な問題に直面する
それはとても現実的な事であり、興味深くある
夢をみる事は、作品制作のプロセスとなっているように思う
私は、夢ばっかみてる
I'm always dreaming.
I dream of little dreams. "I wish... ." "I hope... ." things like that.
I say that I'm always dreaming and some people may think "How dreamy!"
However, when I try to realize a dream, I face various problems.
That's very realistic and interesting for me.
To dream is a process for making works.
I'm a dreamer.

Strange of Happiness
私たちは、幸せは人それぞれだ、と知っているはずだ。
しかし、時々それを忘れて、自分の価値観を他者に押し付けてしまう。
「お金持ちの人は幸せ」
「未婚でいる人は不幸せ」・・・
それは真実だろうか。
私は「幸せ」を作ってみた。
作られた「幸せ」は滑稽に見えないだろうか。
幸せは少し、おかしい。 と思う。
We should know that happiness is depends on person to person.
Everyone has a different happiness.
But, sometimes we forget about it and impose own values on someone.
- The people who have a lot of money are happy.
The people who stay single are unhappy. ...
Are they correct?
I tried to make works "Happiness".
Look, "happiness" looks like funny, doesn't it?
Happiness is a little bit strange, I think.

ゆとりのある教育
「ゆとり教育」はこどもの学力低下などの問題をひきおこした。それゆえ、私たちは「ゆとり教育」にはネガティブなイメージを持っている。しかし、本来、ゆとりがある。ということは良い事だ。余裕のある状況には何か面白いことが起こりそうな予感がある。
今回、教育にまつわるモチーフで作品を作った。
教育の中にあるゆとりや楽しさを表現できたらと思っている。
“Yutori education”(Relaxed education) caused problems such as a decline in children's academic ability, and many people came to see it negatively.
However, having yutori—having room or space—is originally a good thing.
It suggests the possibility that something interesting might happen.
For this exhibition, I created works using motifs related to education.
Through them, I hope to express the sense of freedom and enjoyment that can exist in education.

そこに山があるから被る
Put on a Mountain for a Hat Because It's There
山は神聖なものだと考える人たちがいる。
登山で命を落とす人たちがいる。
その一方で山を一種の流行とみなしている人たちがいる。
ハイヒールでトレッキングをする女の子たちがいる。
私にはこの違いが興味深い。
今回、私は「山の帽子」を制作した。
ファッションとしての山、である。気軽に身に付けられる。
There are people who think that mountains are holy.
There are people who lose their lives while climbing mountains.
On the other hand, there are people who regard climbing mountain as a fashionable activity.
There are girls hike with high heel shoes.
I'm interested in that difference.
This time, I made "mountain hats".
These are mountains as fashion.
We can easily put on these mountain as hats.

制作。時々、パン
I Make Art. Sometimes, I Eat Bread.
美術で食べていくのは難しいと言われている。
私もそれは分かっている。しかし、その言葉は私を寂しい気持ちにさせる。
美術でお腹を満たすのは難しいが、心を満たすことはできる。
そこで、今回は、この作品、「パン」を作った。
食べられないけれど、鑑賞はできる。
－作品を作る毎日。私は、時々、パンをかじる。
They say that it's difficult to earn a living by making Art.
I've heard that before,but it makes me sad.
It's difficult to fill our stomachs with Art, but art can satisfy our hearts.
So, this time, I made this series,"Bread".
We can't eat this "Bread" but we can enjoy looking at this "Bread".
－I make art every day. Sometimes when I'm taking a break, I eat bread.

パワースポット
Power Spot
このところ、「パワースポット」が人気らしい。
パワースポットを作ったら、人が集まるのだろうか？
そこで、パワースポットを作ってみた。
このパワースポットはたくさんの戦隊ヒーロー（パワーの象徴）でできている。
強そう、でしょう？
It seems that Power spots (spiritual places) are popular lately.
I wondered, "If I make a power spot, will people gather there?"
So, I made the Power spot.
It consists of a lot of Heroes.(Power Rangers)
It looks like strong, doesn't it?

The Sheep for One Third of Your Comfortable Life
しばしば「眠れない」という話を耳にする。
眠れない人が増えているらしい。
睡眠は人生の1/3を占めると言われている。大切な時間である。
そこで、私は羊を作った。快適な睡眠の為に。
I often hear people say they cannot sleep.
It seems that more and more people have trouble sleeping.
Sleep is said to take up one third of our lives.
It is an important time.
So I made some sheep—
for a comfortable sleep.

ある日の庭で
One Day, in the Garden
私は東北の出身だ。
3・11の震災は「なぜ作品を作るのか」という意味を考えさせられる機会となった。
「何があっても、作りたいのだ」と思ったとき、私は自身の制作の始まりについて思い至った。
私のものづくりの始まりは庭であった。
絵の具の代わりに植物で描き、粘土の代わりに土を使った。
展示会場にその庭を再現しようと思った。
そして、私はまた制作を続ける。
I was born and raised in the Tohoku region.
The 3/11 earthquake made me think deeply about why I create art. It made me question the meaning of making work.
When I realized, “No matter what happens, I still want to create,” I began to think about where my own making first started.
My creativity began in a garden.
Instead of paint, I used plants to draw.
Instead of clay, I used soil.
For this exhibition, I wanted to recreate that garden in the gallery space.
And once again, I continue to create.

Memories of a special day
私は本当におめでたい人間だと思う。
私はラジオを聴きながら制作しているのだが、ラジオは毎日のように悲しいニュースを伝えている。それなのに、私は呑気に作品を作っている。
今回、幸せそうなのもを制作した。
「胴上げ」「ごちそう」「パーティーの飾りつけ」などだ。
見た人が、おめでたい気持ちになるように。
I think I am a very carefree and optimistic person.
I make my work while listening to the radio. The radio reports sad news almost every day. Even so, I calmly continue making my artwork.
For this exhibition, I created things that look happy and celebratory, such as “tossing someone in the air,” “a feast,” and “party decorations.”
I hope that people who see the work will feel a sense of celebration and joy.

Swimming Pool
小学生のころ、体育の授業で、プールに入る前に陸上で水かきの練習をした。
私たちは真剣に、陸上で泳ぐ練習をするのだ。
客観的に見ると、その様子は滑稽であったに違いない。
その様を作品で再現してみた。
When I was in elementary school, we practiced swimming movements on land before getting into the pool in P.E. class.
We seriously practiced swimming while standing on the ground.
Seen from the outside, it must have looked quite funny.
I recreated that scene in this work.

人事異動
Personnel transfers
箸の持ち方の練習で、箸で豆をつまみ、皿から皿へと移す。
というトレーニング方法がある。
お皿からお皿へ豆を移動させるその様子に、
人事異動のイメージが重なってしまった。
There is a way to practice using chopsticks.
You pick up beans with chopsticks and move them from one plate to another.
As I watched the beans being moved from plate to plate,
it began to overlap with the image of personnel transfers in a company.

たまごの真相
Truth of Eggs
どこのスーパーマーケットでも、たくさんの卵が積まれている。
セールの日には、1パック100円前後で買えてしまう。
鶏は1日に何個も卵を産めるわけではない。
せいぜい、1個。
と、卵の数ほど、鶏はいるのだ。
そうして、私は卵に生命があることを想った。
Many cartons of eggs are stacked in every supermarket.
On sale days, you can buy a carton for around 100 yen.
A chicken cannot lay many eggs in one day.
At most, it lays one egg a day.
So there must be as many chickens as there are eggs.
Then I began to think about the life inside each egg.

アスパラガスの誤解
Misunderstanding of Asparagus
アスパラガスを知っている、と思っていた。
しかし、アスパラガスを育てている人が「アスパラガスは、伸びるのが早い」と言っているのを聞き、私はアスパラガスについて知らないのだ、ということに気が付いた。
しかも、アスパラガスは竹の子のように伸びるだろうと思っていた。
それは誤解であった。
私のこの誤解を表現してみた。
誤解しているのは私だけだろうか？
私たちの日常の中にはたくさんの不思議が潜んでいるにちがいない、と思う。
I thought I knew asparagus.
But when I heard someone who grows asparagus say, “Asparagus grows very fast,” I realized that I didn’t really know it at all.
I had even imagined that it grows like bamboo shoots.
That was a misunderstanding.
I tried to express this misunderstanding in my work.
Am I the only one who has misunderstood it?
I believe there must be many small mysteries hidden in our everyday lives.
